Chefsache reloaded - Who is the new bank CEO?

A year ago we launched our video series "Chefsache" about our bank CEO Franz Reiner. We accompanied him on various topics, sweating with him during work on social projects, such as at the "Day of Caring" or talking shop at the IAA. Now Franz Reiner is leaving the bank stage to become the new CEO of Daimler Financial Services, which is soon to be renamed into Daimler Mobility AG. So it's time to introduce the new CEO. He isn't a stranger to us. Watch here:

What you always wanted to know about the new bank CEO.

A good fencer is fast, focused, decisive and precise. Benedikt Schell knows this. As a teenager, he was a member of the German squad of saber fencers for many years. Today, the determination of the competitive athlete still stands the 49-year-old in good stead as a manager. "With all of our tasks, it's important not to lose sight of the respective goal," says Schell, who has already been active since June 1 as the new Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Bank.

For the father of three, it's important never to lose sight of the people in his work: "It's clear that the success of a team depends not only on business topics like strategy, organization, technology or process, but very decisively also on other factors, such as social skills, motivation and cohesion," says Schell about his leadership style.

His career.

Schell joined the company in 1997 after an apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank, followed by studies in business administration and psychology at the University of Cologne. While in the international management trainee group of Daimler, he spent six months in Argentina, among other locations. In 1999, Schell became assistant in the Board of Management Office of Financial Services.

The next positions for Schell were those of business manager and later managing director at debis Car Fleet Management. This was followed by the management of the Sales Region South at Mercedes-Benz Bank. The jump to European responsibility as Head of Sales and Marketing of Daimler Financial Services for passenger cars and the fleet business then followed in 2006.

As Head of Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Bank and for Daimler Financial Services Europe, Schell was then appointed to the Board of Management member for the Private and business customers of Mercedes-Benz Bank two years later. Four years later, as Chief Experience Officer in the Board of Management of Daimler Financial Services, Shell took on a new role and supported the worldwide customer and digital strategy as well as the transformation of the business models.

"For me it almost feels like coming home now," said Schell, who is already dedicating his full energy to his new job as Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Bank.
